Baltic Sea carnival parade

27.8.2026

11.30

Kansalaistori Square

Thursday, 27 August We will once again hold a spectacular celebration in the centre of Helsinki in honour of our beloved Baltic Sea!The Finnish Nature League and the John Nurminen Foundation are organising a joyful Baltic Sea carnival parade. It’s part of the programme of the Baltic Sea Festival held at Kansalaistori Square. The parade will be an unforgettable experience and the perfect opportunity to reflect on the biodiversity of the Baltic Sea and how to protect it, and the power of citizen engagement.

Join the parade at Kansalaistori Square. It will set off from there at 11:30 and last until 12:30. You can bring along homemade Baltic Sea-themed signs, carnival fish and nautical masks, and of course, musical instruments.

Join in on your own or bring friends! You can also just come along to watch the parade and enjoy the carnival atmosphere.

If you intend to join the parade as a larger group – for example, with your whole class – we kindly ask you to register in advance. Please use this form to register a large group.

Accessibility information about the parade and other things to keep in mind about the route:
The Baltic Sea carnival parade will be a splendid sight. We’ll march along a 1.2-kilometre route, celebrating together and raising our voices in support of the diverse Baltic Sea. Traffic along the route may also cause noise.

We will seek to ensure that the parade route is accessible. Part of the route is paved with cobblestones instead of asphalt.
