bingo!

Did you do a marine-friendly action or get to know your local waters? Tick the things you’ve done this summer. If you get a row of three squares, shout “bingo”!

After the bingo game, you can discuss with the child or the whole class different ways to protect the sea and activities related to water.

For example, you can discuss these bingo themes together.

The Baltic Sea is in poor condition when too many substances called nutrients get into the water. You can help the sea and other waterways by eating domestic fish, such as roach, Baltic herring and vendace. When these fish are caught and eaten, nutrients are removed from the water.

Vegetables are also good for you and for the environment. Meat can be replaced, for example, with peas and beans. Growing vegetables burdens the environment less than producing meat.

By eating more domestic fish and vegetables, you help the Baltic Sea and the climate!

Nature will thank you when you travel short distances and avoid constant private car use and flying. Walk or cycle when you can. For longer trips, choose public transport, such as a train, or ask an adult to arrange a carpool.

When you travel in an environmentally friendly way, the air stays cleaner and even the sea benefits.

What do you think is the most fun thing to do by the sea or another body of water? Is it perhaps swimming, boating, fishing, or something else? Talk together about what kinds of feelings and memories you have related to the sea.

How does time spent in nature, such as on the seashore, affect us humans? According to research, being in nature calms the mind and can make you feel especially good. Of course, other kinds of feelings may also arise. Learning to swim can, for example, be nerve‑wracking, or fun water games can get you excited. All kinds of feelings are allowed and can be talked about together.

Plan a trip to the seaside or another body of water. For example, you can listen to the waves, watch the water, or play on the beach.
